PRIVACY · LOCAL BYTES

What stays on your device.

ground.md is a browser converter. The bytes of your PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, RTF, EPUB, or CSV file, and the Markdown, text, JSON, and images it generates, remain in the browser. They are not uploaded to ground.md for parsing. There are no accounts, no cookies set by the app, and no ad trackers.

Anonymous completion event

After a successful local parse, the web app may send one disclosed anonymous completion event to /api/v1/metrics/document-processed. That event carries the file format, a unit kind and count (pages, slides, sheets, chapters, or rows), and the processing duration. Word, OpenDocument text, and RTF send a page count only when the file's own metadata stores one; otherwise they send no unit. PDF also sends the document page count and a pages-needing-OCR estimate. The Worker records the event time when it stores the row. The event never includes the filename, file bytes, or any generated document content.

Where those numbers live

The Worker writes the event and running aggregates to Turso. Public totals are exposed at /api/stats and on the noindex /stats page. Do not treat the metric endpoint as a conversion API, and do not call it manually.

Cloudflare

The site is served on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare can retain ordinary edge and request logs for HTTP traffic (page loads, static files, and the small telemetry API). That is request metadata for using the website, not a copy of your document.

See about for why the product exists, and the homepage to run a conversion locally.
